So, turns out I don't like Captain Jack Harkness as much as thought I did. Not enough to fork out £18.99 for his autobiography!!! :O
He came to Oxford today, Borders the bookshop. In fact, I suspect he's still there now. With his sister. I'd been looking forward to it all week...until my poor sleep-deprived brain forgot about it...and then today, I happened to end up in Borders to use my 20% off voucher (oh, I loooooove vouchers!!) and I see the signs and pictures and all the people and I realise he's coming in ONE HOUR!!! Fate or what?
Alas, no.
I had no camera, so it was doomed from the beginning. And am way tooooooooo broke to buy his biog, not that I would want it anyway. And there were all these rules and regulations! No posed photos, no touching him, no GIVING the book to him, write your dedication name on a post-it and stick it on the book, a guy will take it off you and hand it to John and then give it back, no time to talk, afterwards you must immediately leave the store, it's like wtf?!
It's not like he's the Doctor!
Apparently he's there for a "limited time only" so some people who've bought the book specifically for him to sign might not even GET to have it signed. Man. Old people, young people, women, school children....men...the place was packed. AND! :O They made me leave the DVD section before I was done because they wanted to "clear the area" for security reasons. ...Maybe it had something to do with the fact I was holding Capote at the time.
Anywhoo, people in the queue were practically hyperventilating (and omg, you could only get the book signed if you BOUGHT IT FROM BORDERS THAT DAY and have proof in the form of the receipt. Real avid fans who had bought it the very first day it came out? MISS out. How sad :-[. Seems like a whole lot of hype for not very much....................even though he's kinda hot. But gay.....
So yes, Kerry, after my excitable text I did the un-fannish - and rather sacrilegious - thing and left the shop at 5. Half an hour before he was supposed to arrive. So no seeing him, which makes me sad :-(
On the bright side? Your hedgehog is now the uber-coolest thing that happened today!
